CYP Haven Youth Drop In Now Open in Staines
Opening times: Tuesdays (4pm – 8.30pm) and Saturdays (12noon – 6pm)
Where: Leacroft Youth Centre, Raleigh court, Staines TW18 4PB
A new service offering a safe place for 10-18 year olds to talk about worries and mental health in a confidential and friendly, supportive environment has opened in Staines.
The CYP Haven is run on a drop-in basis so you don’t have to be referred, or call ahead to book an appointment. You can simply turn up.
The service has been designed as an alternative to A&E for young people in mental health crisis and also as a place for young people to seek support and prevent problems from escalating.
At each of the CYP Havens you need to ‘buzz in’ (press an intercom button or a doorbell) to enter. The service is staffed by a Youth Mental Health Nurse, a Children’s Rights Worker and a Youth Worker.
They can help people through talking their issue, and find ways to ensure young people get the right information. It may be that all they need is a space to relieve some of their anxieties and get advice on coping mechanisms. The staff are there to listen and to try to find ways to make their situation better.
CYP Havens are run by a partnership between Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Surrey County Council and funded by NHS Guildford and Waverley Clinical Commissioning Group. The Staines service is the third of four CYP Havens to open across Surrey. A further location is due to open in Redhill later this year.
